Talk to Type Transcription is a Court Approved Certified Electronic Transcriber in Pierce County and King County, Washington. All VRPs are prepared in accordance with Washington Court Rules of Appellate Procedure (RAP) Rule 9.2: Verbatim Report of Proceedings, and include a searchable PDF file sent via email or mailed on disc and one printed and bound hard copy of your transcript to be filed according to WCR RAP 9.5: Filing and Service of Report of Proceedings.

CDs from King, Pierce, Kitsap, and Thurston County can all be mailed or dropped off by arrangement, or sent via Talk to Type Transcription’s secure New Audio Upload Form; however, please contact us first, as specific instructions for Pierce County audio do apply, and prepayment is required for all pro se clients. The minimum cost of a court transcript is $50.00 paid up front, plus applicable rates per audio minute beyond the $50.00 deposit.
A VRP is a verbatim report of proceedings prepared by a court approved certified transcriptionist or court reporter according to the Rules of Appellate Procedure 9.2.

Talk to Type Transcription is a court approved certified transcriptionist for preparation of all verbatim report of proceedings for the Court of Appeals (COA) Division 1 and 2. If you are seeking review and filing an appeal, you must also file a Statement of Arrangements (SOA) listing Talk to Type Transcription as the transcriptionist of record. See RAP 9.5 for additional information. Once we have received the SOA and your case has been assigned a COA number we will prepare the verbatim report of proceedings and file both a PDF copy and hard copy with the COA according to RAP guidelines.

While we offer same day and overnight service for up to 150 minutes of audio, our standard rate turnaround time is 48–72 hours upon confirmation of receipt. We return work as completed via our secure FTP site assuming you needed it yesterday.

All documents are prepared in Microsoft Word and returned as a searchable PDF file sent via our FTP site, unless otherwise requested, according to RAP guidelines when applicable.

For all non-legal documents, we are happy to accommodate any specific formatting requests and typically alternate Bold/Plain font for Q&A recordings. Our per-audio-minute rate means custom font size, style and spacing does not affect your final cost.

There are no contract commitments or project size limits. We are here to meet your needs however large or small. Please note, though, there is a minimum $50 charge for first-time clients and turnaround time does vary due to length of dictation and project size.

At the completion of your project, an invoice will be generated and emailed to you with payment information. Payment is due immediately before receipt of transcript. Established regular clients will receive an invoice on the 30th of each month. We accept cash, checks or credit card via Paypal (with a 3% surcharge).

Please note: A 50% deposit is required for more than 2 hours of audio.

We keep all client information and audio is kept confidential. It is our duty. Some clients require additional documentation via a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). We are happy to sign your NDA, or we can supply one for you.

Rates

We understand that cost is of the utmost importance to you and will do our best to meet or beat any competitor’s quoted rate. All projects are transcribed by local humans and never computer generated or outsourced for the highest quality, professional results.

You may get a lower base quote, but be careful. For all non-legal assignments, our rates are quoted per audio minute. This gives you an upfront project cost without the guessing game or surprises associated with other pricing tiers.

Our rate chart covers all the standard features of a high quality transcript. To determine the cost of a non-legal transcript multiply the number of minutes of audio, by the price per minute for expected turn around time. For example, 30 minutes of 2-speaker audio completed in a maximum of three days is: 30 min x $2.50 or $75.00.  Rates include proofing and guaranteed accuracy, plus the ability to customize turnaround time. Why pay more for a higher base rate if you don’t need to?

1-2 Speakers

5-7 Days  –  $1.75 /min

2-4 Days  –  $2.50 /min

24 Hours –  $3.00 /min

12 Hours –  $3.25 /min

3-5 Speakers

5-7 Days  –  $2.00 /min

2-4 Days  –  $2.75 /min

24 Hours –  $3.25 /min

12 Hours –  $3.50 /min

What is Smart Edit?

Smart Edit is the application of light editing to the transcribed word-for-word document. Ums, ahs, stuttering, false starts or similar speech discrepancies are not transcribed if you choose this option. Smart Edit is not an available option for court hearings or legal depositions.

Verbatim Report of Proceedings

Witness interviews and verbatim report of proceedings at trial before judge or jury are formatted to Washington State RAP 9.2 guidelines and charged a per page rate.
Please note: Pre-payment is required for all pro se clients.
